哈囉! Hello, I’m Christine!

Hi! I’m a certified Mandarin instructor from Taiwan 🇹🇼, trained at Washington University in St. Louis and holding an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Texas Tech University in the US. That’s where I discovered my passion for teaching and sharing Chinese language and culture with students from around the world.

I spent five years teaching at U.S. universities including TTU, TCU, and Rice, and now I teach online to students worldwide. Over the years, I’ve helped learners win scholarships, internships, and study-abroad opportunities—plus prepare for business trips, work, travel, and life in Taiwan.

Since 2017, I’ve taught 5,000+ hours of online and in-person lessons. I understand the challenges of learning Chinese, and I’m here to make it easier, clearer, and more enjoyable for you.

My students describe me as a kind, patient teacher who truly cares about their progress. Teaching Mandarin isn’t just my career—it’s my passion. I’m here to help you speak real-life Taiwanese Mandarin with confidence, connect with native speakers, and enjoy every step of the journey.

Conversational Chinese

If you are an A2 level up learners, and would like to improve your Chinese speaking fluency. This course would be right for you. During the lessons, we’ll have conversational practice to talk about topics you’re interested in (your daily life; current news; Chinese media, etc.) Besides, You’ll watch authentic Chinese YouTube videos, read Chinese articles, and listen to Chinese podcasts, and we’ll have discussions based on them.

Real-life Taiwanese Mandarin Course

If you are planning to travel or study in Taiwan, or if you are going to meet your Taiwanese vendors, Chinese business partners, or even your Taiwanese spouses’ family for a short stay in Taiwan. This would be the right course for you.

If you would like to improve your integrative Chinese skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) from the textbooks correspond to the proficiency guidelines – ACTFL and CEFR, and build your Chinese fluency for a long term, this is the course right for you.

Our Approaches

I use communicative approach to help my students get ready to use Chinese in real-life scenarios and to communicate in culturally-appropriate manner.

I also endorsed using comprehensible input and authentic materials to help my students learn Chinese language at the level they can understand, and challenge them to learn a bit more they can’t in the target language (i+1 theory)!

How it Works

Step 1. Book a 30-minute trial lesson, or Select how many course hours you want to book

If you are a new students, you can book a 30-minute trial lesson firstly to let me know more about your learning needs and goals and to see if we are a good fit.

If you are my old students, you can select the lesson package whichever fit better your learning plan.

Step 2. Fill up the form and pay online

After selecting your lesson package, you’ll be directed to the lesson scheduling page to fill out a form and choose available time slots, then directed to the payment page to complete your online payment.

Step 3. Enter your online classroom and enjoy the learning

After filling up the form and completing the Paypal payment on the booking page, your first lesson is booked successfully🎉 You’ll receive a confirmation email with a class meeting link. Simply click the meeting link to join the lesson and get ready for the class!

Why Mastering Mandarin?

When it comes to learning Chinese, there are thousands of teachers on different language platforms and social media. I’ve found that most teachers are from China, and they teach the standard dialect of Mandarin spoken in Beijing. However, this sounds very different from 台灣國語Taiwanese Mandarin 🇹🇼, the variety of Chinese I speak in Taiwan.

Some words, expressions, sentence structures, and accents are all different from those in Mainland China. Neither is better nor worse. However, I feel the need to promote Taiwanese Mandarin so that more students can learn about the diversity of the Chinese language—including Taiwanese Mandarin—and discover more about Taiwanese culture on this beautiful Formosa island

In my Chinese lessons, I teach 繁體字 Traditional Chinese Characters used in Taiwan. With thousands of years of history, Traditional Chinese characters preserve the depth and meaning of the Chinese language. I believe they are a form of art — the most beautiful written language in the world — and I hope my students will appreciate their aesthetic and cultural value. I feel strongly about promoting traditional Chinese characters before they fade away.
